Shooting fashion photography on location is my favourite way to create this genre of imagery. I love making the environment as much as character in my photographs as the model or the fashion — telling the story of the location while showcasing the clothing and accessories in an interesting and engaging manner. So you can imagine my excitement when my friends at Travel + Leisure Southeast Asia invited me to shoot the cover and fashion feature for their annual “Style & Design Issue’ at The Sanchaya, a beautiful resort property on the island of Bintan, Indonesia.

As Deputy Editor Jeninne Lee-St. John describes in the September 2015 issue of T+L:

Board a ferry in modern Singapore and disembark an hour later onto the talcum sands of a bygone era.  Classic colonial at its best, The Sanchaya also pays full respect to its Southeast Asian location, with a graceful, collonaded great house and swooping-peakroofed Singaporean- and Thai-style villas scattered about the serene resort.  The bounty of art and antiques all over this property was lovingly collected by the lady of the manor from a trove of countries including Brunei, Burma, Malaysia, Laos and Vietnam.

My amazing creative team and I spent 24 glorious hours at The Sanchaya, exploring and shooting and making a fashion feature of which we can all be proud.
