The luminous Manila family home of designer JJ Acuña and his sister Geraldine Acuña-Sunshine reflects their cultural heritage and the soulful energy that binds their family together. The house is a statement of heritage, hope and design that anchors them.

After a fire damaged their previous home, they rebuilt from scratch, creating a place that honours Filipino tradition while embracing modern life.

Spanning more than 9,000 square feet with six bedrooms, the residence is conceived as a modern bahay na bato — solid in its base, elevated in its living, generous in light and open to its view. Materials like Indian slate and Bali stone ground the design, while a double-height foyer, expansive pool and soaring ceilings invite air and illumination.

Every detail feels intentional: warm tones, furnishings sourced from Philippine brands, art that reflects both local and global culture, and spaces — library, wellness, play — for gathering and retreat alike.
