Named after the lady of the house,
Zsa Zsa Padilla and Condrad Onglao’s Casa Esperanza
in Lucban, Quezon is a testament to the philosophy
of allowing nature to speak for itself.

The latest issue of Tatler Homes Philippines is all about that “Great Escape” and — as Stephanie Zubiri expresses in her Letter From the Editor — no matter how we define or seek this, “solace is within reach”.  My assignment for this issue was to photograph Casa Esperanza, “architect Conrad Onglao and singer Zsa Zsa Padilla’s lush weekend retreat in Lucban, Quezon.”  As I learned while spending a wonderful day with them, “ensconced by lush foliage”, gazing at an “infinity pool that overlooks a man-made pond and fountain” all surrounded by “gentle rolling slopes” it was clear that the duo had succeeded in delivering on their vision: “we really wanted to embrace the natural landscape and build around it…[and] bring the outside in”.
