In March I was contacted by an old friend and past-collaborator, Japanese producer Nahoko Kodama, about shooting part of an international UNIQLO jeans campaign in Singapore.
In partnership with Dentsu Tokyo, the big idea was to photograph a handful of style and social media influencers around the world, including tennis stars Novak Djokovic and Kei Nishikori, dancer Polina Semionova and recording artist ASAP Ferg.
In Singapore, Nahoko had been tasked with producing a shoot with Singaporean fashion, travel and beauty blogger, Jessica Tham, and Nahoko asked if I’d photograph it.
The location was set for the beautiful and iconic National Museum of Singapore near the city centre. Jessica was asked to bring along a prop — her “favourite thing” — which would appear in the shoot alongside herself and her UNIQLO jeans. Jessica chose her Olympus E-PL5 camera.
Our shoot went extremely well: Jessica was not only beautiful, but extremely friendly and outgoing, and a joy to work with.
And last month UNIQLO rolled-out their LifeWear campaign, featuring the photographs Jessica, Nahoko and I made here in Singapore.
