Similarly to our first two instalments in the series, I AM Eyes of Nikon: Mongolia and I AM Eyes of Nikon: Bali, we made this series of still and moving imagery to support Nikon’s suite of award-winning NIKKOR lenses — integrated photographic and film content that engages, educates and inspires young photographers, photography enthusiasts and advanced amateur photographers.
The big idea behind these series is to explore in depth a beautiful and diverse location alongside amateur photographers so that they can experience working with a variety of NIKKOR lenses. These young photographers are mentored by me and the experience is documented by Mike, each vignette featuring a different lens and genre of photography.

Exploring NIKKOR Lenses: Australia was shot on location across Western Australia. Accompanied by amateur photographer Reuben Chia, a couple of Nikon D810’s and six of Nikon’s most premium and iconic FX lenses — 14-24mm f/2.8, 24-70mm f/2.8, 35mm f/1.4, 70-200mm f/2.8, 85mm f/1.4 and 300mm f/4 — together set out to capture the true essence of Australia.
We admired the grace and beauty of a ballet dancer twirling and gliding amidst the natural limestone formations at the Pinnacles. We raced after adrenaline-fuelled motocross riders flying through the air across the Lancelin sand dunes. We documented the lives of ranchers working a sprawling cattle station in Pinjarra. We wandered the bush and witnessed magnificent birds and wildlife at Wandoo Heights Nature Reserve. We captured the intricate architectural details of the iconic and historical His Majesty’s theatre in Perth. And we went backstage (and on stage) with a Fremantle rock ‘n roll band. It was a true photographic adventure in some of the most exciting, beautiful and diverse locations in Australia.
