Known for its off-the-beaten path resorts, Six Senses
has made a splash in Singapore with its first city hotel.
For more than a dozen years, I’ve had a small office/studio in Singapore’s Chinatown and Tanjong Pagar neighbourhoods. It’s an exciting and colourful part of the city, where heritage architecture and traditional culture coexists with modern design and urban lifestyles. Every week it seems like there’s a new café, wine bar or bistro opening within walking distance of my office. Most recently, however, something even cooler opened just a couple of hundred metres from my studio: Six Senses opened a 49-room boutique hotel in eight restored shophouses on Duxton Road.
Travel + Leisure Southeast Asia Deputy Editor, Jeninne Lee-St. John, recently spent a few days at the Anouska Hempel-designed property, and I was fortunate enough to get the commission to photograph the lovingly-refurbished building and it’s staff for a 5-page feature in T+L‘s August 2018 issue.
Read all about Jeninne’s experience at Six Senses’ first city hotel as well as browse a small collection of my unpublished photography from their brand new Duxton property in Singapore.
